12 important values
Project description
For this project we were to create our own unique binders that creatively showcased who we are. The front cover and following five tabs illustrated with photos or drawings for the corresponding value. This project was about a month long, and students were allowed to go at their own pace with it, as long as you had signed up for a five minute meeting with ms carol to show your finished binder to her for a final grade.
This was an individual project, so not much collaboration was included. The work habit i noticed in myself was that I would put certain things off because I didn't have the right materials but then never returned to it because I didn’t get them. However, i got over this habit by scheduling out what work needed to be done each day to finish before the deadline and got my supplies needed prior to the work day.
I may have learned even a little more about myself in this project. I had to dig deep to figure out what to put down for each tab so to uncover some of those values was refreshing. In terms of learning outcomes, I’ve definitely used good worth ethic to use the time I had in class to get what i could done on my binder when I could, so i definitely utilized that time. At home it was a bit more difficult because of other responsibilities though. Like i said, there wasn’t much collaboration, but oral communication came in handy when I needed to schedule my meeting, and in the meeting, using it to exhibit my finished binder. As far as content, I exceeded in each component, but there wasn’t much written communication, at least not outside of the binder.
I used grit by pushing myself hard, I stayed up late and spent good time on my binders, especially on my health tab which i like a lot because each drawing is hand drawing and meticulously cut out like stickers. My empathy came out a bit during this project especially with others who couldn't get the supplies they needed, like help with coloring utensils or printing, so I always helped out if I could. I took full responsibility for managing my own work, and keeping track of my progress and supplies. I respected my space and others, making sure to keep my things in good shape as long as not disturb others’ work. I used integrity by making sure all of my work was my own and original, because this work is supposed to be your own unique expression.
I think my meeting went well, and my binder turned out to be 30/30 so i am definitley proud of my finished product. I like telling stories and ideas behind tabs to ms carol and showing her my hard work that I was passionate about. I also loved the idea of the project as a creative person and I thought it was a great way for us to showcase our ideas and experiences in unique and cool ways.

And Now For Some History
Project description
In this project, pairs were assigned a court case to research and create a visual to go along with our writings. My group’s case was Plessy v. Ferguson.
I was partnered with Natalya and Evan. As far as collaboration, we all got along and encouraged ourselves to get our parts done and helped each other. At times Evan wouldn’t be around so we didn’t quite know where he was with his work but we were able to get his writing and attach it to our writings in the final piece. One thing we could have worked on was communication since usually one of us was doing something else or not there so it made things a little difficult trying to work out our ideas with everyone.
In this project I used empathy by understanding my partner's’ work schedules and helping them to insure everyone got their work done. I good work ethic by working hard on my parts and making sure they were professional and done correctly. I was responsible for all of my contributions and utilized my time do make sure I was doing my work at a good pace and getting it done. I was respectful to my peers’ work and my partner's’ contributions as long as my own to insure everyone’s best work was exhibited. I used integrity by making sure all of my work was original and that I put my own thoughts and ideas into it before discussing with my partners to create the later final product.
On exhibition night unfortunately one of my partners was absent and the other wasn’t exactly on task so I was alone at my station for a short period but I was able to explain my project to parents and Ms Carol which I am proud of. Evan was able to share his thoughts with Ms. Carol too at one point. I was proud of our final outcome though, and I liked going around and seeing everyone else’s final project.

We’ve got style
Project description
In this project we made a book of our choice; a short story, 9 poems, or a personal essay. I did poems. We were able to express our creativity freely through these books by illustrating pages and filling any blank spaces with anything of our choice. The main goal though was to have a running theme, mine was about my friends.
This was an individual project, but i’m still very happy with how I managed my time throughout it. I made sure my poems were ready for critique sessions and used feedback to my advantage. I used all the work time I got for the book and used it wisely and kept myself on track and ahead of deadlines.
Like mentioned above, I worked very hard whenever I got the chance which left me with lots of time to add more and get more feedback. I gave feedback and received, making sure to use it in the next draft. I got great feedback from Ms. Carol and even used her commentary as one of my reviews in the back of my book. I’m very proud of my writing and my peers seemed to like it a lot!
I was empathic and gave advice to my peers when they struggled. I put a lot of time both at school and at home into my book, but also made sure to be respectful of others work, which in return, they were respectful of mine. All of my writing is original and inspired by my experiences I’ve had with my friends, and I liked when someone pointed out who they knew the poem was about.
Exhibition went very well, and I got a lot of compliments on my book, especially the cover. My favorite moment- a bit bittersweet- was when my mother read my book and she started to cry. Or when Sami’s mom came over to read my book and stopped about the poem about her daughter and complimented it specifically. It made me feel very accomplished and even more proud of my work. I now enjoy poetry a lot more and might continue to write more often.
